The adventures of Jack Jack

The adventures of a first time Mummy and my son Jack.

The Blossoming Workshop

You may remember a while back  I did a post about sensory toys I had made for Jack (Sensory play), one of which was a discovery box. But what if you don’t have the time to collect items from around your house (and lets face it not many of us do during the busy lifestyles we lead) or don’t have any safe, interesting items for baby to discover?

Then look no further than the wonderful new shop, The Blossoming Workshop (Facebook page).

Run by a mum to 3 little ones who is currently studying a Degree in Childcare Learning & Development, The Blossoming Workshop has treasure baskets, sensory toys and even handmade children’s instruments (coming soon) and are based on the concept of Heuristic play.

As a mother myself I understand the importance of providing interesting toys for children that stimulate their senses and encourage their inquisitive nature. My passion is to create high quality gifts for babies and toddlers.

What is Heuristic play?

Heuristic play is how children learn about the world around them. They stop pondering objects and start looking at what can be done with them. What can I build, where can I put this, will this fit in here? Toddlers love to empty, fill, examine and discover and how better than with a treasure basket filled with shiny, soft, rubbery, bumpy and many other different textures to explore.

The Blossoming Workshop has 2 treasure baskets that can be explored from birth.

The Handmade Sensory Ribbon Ring (£4.29) are also suitable from birth and feature a wooden ring with different coloured, and patterned ribbon. Little ones can explore the colours and watch how the ribbons react as they move the toy around.
