Love2Read, I love …
Its Valentines day tomorrow and how better to celebrate than by teaching Jack about those who love him.
Love2Read was set up by Caroline, a qualified teacher with over 15 years experience in primary school classrooms, to help her middle child who has special needs. Each book is designed to spark a love of reading by using pictures of people or items the child knows and linking them with keywords.
Jack and I choose the ‘I love..’ book and using 10 pictures of our family produced a lovely collection of photos in as little as 10 minutes. Once I had finished I was able to view the book virtually incase I needed to make any changes. The books cost £14.99 but are reduced in price per unit when more than 2 books are purchased. You can also buy gift vouchers so others can create the books themselves. There are templates for every imaginable occasion, Mothers/Fathers day, birthdays, Christmas, focusing on a family member or simply a book all about themselves.
Jack is picking up new words everyday but has previously only said Mummy and Daddy. Within minutes of opening his book and scanning the pictures he surprised both Daddy and I by saying Grandma, Nanny and Grandad!
I was very impressed with the quality of the photos in the glossy pages and being wipe cleaning is definitely a plus with a dribbly book obsessed toddler. The only change I would make is by creating slightly sturdier books as little hands can bend them quite easily.
You can make your own book on www.love2read.co.uk
What a lovely idea for a birthday or Christmas present, I had never heard of this kind of book
